POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist with day-to-day classroom operations and provide a safe and developmentally appropriate early childhood program in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures in harmony with the mission statement and policies of the YMCA of Marquette County

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assists in routine caregiving needs (feeding, dressing, diapering/toileting)
  2. Meet the emotional and developmental needs of each child
  3. Assists in establishing and maintaining a learning environment that is engaging, developmentally-appropriate, safe and sanitary
  4. Assist with lessons as assigned by Lead Teach or Child Development Director
  5. Model, facilitate and explain appropriate child and adult behavior
  6. Positively address and redirect inappropriate child behavior
  7. Develop positive relationships with participants and provide motivational support and guidance
  8. Assist with ensuring safety and cleanliness of equipment and facilities
  9. At the discretion of the Child Development Director, attend all staff meetings, workshops and seminars to increase knowledge and skills and complete 24 hours of annual continuing education to meet state and national licensing rules and accreditation standards
  10. Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Complete incident and accident reports as necessary
  11. Handles and resolves family concerns and informs Child Development Director of unusual situation s or unresolved issues

Maybe responsible for open and/or closing the center and maintaining security and safety of the premises, including responsible use and secure handling of building key and proper operations of the building security system and maintaining all opening and closing procedures as outlined by classroom binders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be at least 18 year of age
  2. Previous experience and education in Early Childhood Development is desired
  3. Must become CPR and First Aid certified.
  4. Must provide a negative T.B. clearance
  5. Must have Federal fingerprinting done with a clear criminal background.
  6. Must take Blood Borne Pathogens, Child Abuse, and YMCA New Employee Orientation training within 30 days of hire

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Youth and Family Coordinator, the tot watch attendant will responsible for providing child-care services while parents are using the facilities or participating in programs.  They will provide for the care of Tot-Watch participants, including the physical and emotional well-being of each child as well as their personal safety.  The Tot-Watch attendant will ensure a quality experience for participants in a safe, clean and loving environment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide childcare while ensuring a quality play experience in a safe, clean and loving environment.
  2. Interact with children in a joyful, sensitive, and positive manner.
  3. Communicate and develop good rapport with the parents and welcome them and their children by name
  4. Continually practice positive role modeling and behavior management techniques to set the tone for appropriate behaviors and ensure children are exhibiting those same behaviors.
  5. Ensure Tot Watch is kept neat, clean, well-organized and safe by clearing areas of safety hazards, putting away all materials and equipment, and organizing as needed.
  6. Report all suggestions, problems, needs or concerns to supervisor.
  7. Attend and actively participate in department meetings and training sessions on a regular basis.
  8. Perform duties on the shift checklists.
  9. Accurately collect fees and maintain accurate records of participation and fees collected.
  10. Adhere to OSHA and YMCA of Marquette County safety standards and guidelines.
  11. Engage in professional growth activities to improve knowledge, skills and abilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
  2. Must be able to walk, stand, crawl, actively play and lead youth activities for up to 6 hours without a break.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Youth and Sports Director, the Kid’s Gym Attendant will  provide supervision, leadership and skill development, and will be a positive role model to all Kids’ Gym participants.  This position is responsible for the safety and well-being of each participant, mentally and physically as well as ensuring all rules and guidelines are being followed by the participant. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Interact with children in a joyful, sensitive and positive manner by learning their names and greeting them every time they come.
  2. Develop a good rapport with the parents and communicate positive and negative behaviors when necessary.
  3. Use positive behavior management to maintain control of the room, be a positive role model, and ensure children and parents are exhibiting positive behaviors.
  4. Continually monitor entire area and clear it of safety hazards to keep activities safe at all times.
  5. Ensure that all participants are following the rules and guidelines and using all equipment in the correct way.
  6. Attend departmental meetings and training sessions as required by supervisor.
  7. Perform as an active leader and participate in games and activities while on duty including building forts, creating obstacle courses and any other active games.
  8. Perform all duties on the daily and weekly checklists and perform head counts every half hour.

The maintenance staff is responsible for keeping the YMCA building, equipment, and grounds in a safe, clean, and functional manner. The health and safety of our members is paramount. Cleaning and maintaining the facility and equipment is critical to our success as a business. The overall impression our guests receive should be positive at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent
  2. Excellent communication skills.

  3. Must be able to operate various types of cleaning equipment, including, but not limited to: floor finishers, vacuums, carpet extractors, ladders, and general cleaning equipment and standard hand tools.
  4. Must have good command of the English language to take direction, write work orders, and read and understand chemical labeling and material safety sheets.
  5. Must be able to work in awkward, cramped or poorly lit areas, stand for periods of up to four hours, have sufficient manual dexterity to operate tools and cleaning equipment, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Under the supervision of the Training and Wellness Director, Member Well-being staff will instruct fitness orientations and programming, and assist and supervise members in the wellness center. They will help build community in our organization while emphasizing safety, fun, and effectiveness. Through training, staff will gain a general knowledge of all programs, membership, special events, and general facility information needed to answer questions, concerns, and be able to promote all the above to members and guests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

QUALIFICATIONS:

2. Experience is some aspect of health, fitness, or wellness is required. An educational background in health and exercise physiology is preferred and obtaining a professional certification is strongly recommended.
3. CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within ninety days of employment.
4. High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
5. A desire to help others achieve their goals in health and wellness.

The YMCA of Marquette County is hiring for a part time Before and/or After School assistant teacher for our KI Sawyer site and Gilbert site in Gwinn. This position is responsible for building positive relationships with families, staff, children and communities, helps follow and meet licensing regulations, and YMCA policies, meet and provide professional development requirements and has strong leadership skills.

Previous experience working with children is desired. Must be knowledgeable in child development; caring, honest, respectful, responsible and enjoy spending time with school age children.
