Teen Programs

It can be hard to figure out your place in the world.  As a young person with your whole life ahead of you, having the right guidance and support can make a real difference in figuring out who you are and what you can achieve.  Whether kids come to the Y looking to explore their interests, or for support in navigating challenges, the Y is committed to nurturing children and teens and roots for their success.

Competitive Swim Team (ages 5-18)- Coached by Matt Williams, our mission is to offer all swimmers the opportunity to reach their potential in an environment that promotes a healthy and active lifestyle. (More info)

Y Arts (ages 7 to adult) - We strengthen communities by connecting people of all backgrounds and ages around shared interests as they explore new skills and talents.  Art programs taught by artist Elizabeth Howe will include drawing, painting and design.

Family Karate - Taught by Master Joyce Tredeau, strengthening of character and self-esteem are emphasized as much as physical techniques such as kicking, blocking, punching motions and self-defense.

Gymnastics - Youth age 6 and up will learn how to correctly use apparatus such as spring boards and balance beams, correct positioning and safety and the rules and stars of the sport.

Kayaking (ages 12-17) - Learn kayaking basics and safety.

Girls Night Out- Everything is changing and its easy for girls to feel pressured, confused and alone. Girls night out is a gathering of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls where they can talk and learn what to do to help them survive all the changes within and around them. Our facilitators will teach and mentor the girls to keep them strong in spirit, mind and body while making positive choices.
