Rallying the Community in the Name of Art

Oct. 3-9, 2011, is YMCA’s Arts Week at the YMCA of Marquette County

[Marquette County, September 30, 2011] – During Oct. 3-9, the YMCA of Marquette County is inviting members of all ages and generations throughout the Marquette County to attend YMCA’s Arts Week – an annual week-long celebration showcasing the unique and diverse talents of artists through various forms of expression. Held at Ys nationwide in October — National Arts and Humanities Month — Arts Week is an initiative of the Y that promotes the power of art to educate, inspire and connect the entire community.

“Arts Week is about celebrating the influence of art and culture on youth and adults alike,” said Laura Murawski, Senior Program Development Leader of the YMCA of Marquette County. “It’s an opportunity to showcase artists’ work and to bring everyone together to experience and understand the pleasure and impact of the arts.”

As a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the YMCA of Marquette County works to help children, teens and adults discover their full potential by providing opportunities to learn, grow and thrive. By participating in arts programs at the Y, children and adults have the opportunity improve their creative and tactical skills, and well being because arts can be a stress-reliever for adults. They also socialize and build relationships, learn the art of group work, and share their enjoyment and passion with each other.
