ENGAGING MEMBERS THROUGH MEANINGFUL WELLNESS PROGRAMS
Activate America is the National YMCA’s response to the nation’s growing health crisis. As part of this initiative, the Y is redefining itself and engaging communities across the country to provide better opportunities for people of all ages in their pursuit of health and well-being in spirit, mind and body. Here at the Y of Marquette County, we will be launching a new series of Wellness Consultation Programs that will be available to all current and new members at no cost. Our programs will offer members three different levels of support that each individual can choose from, depending on the level of support needed. These great new options are listed below:
Healthy Living Consultation- The Health Living Consultation may be all that is required of a member already committed to living a healthy lifestyle. The primary function of the healthy living consultation is to exchange information about the member’s lifestyle habits, medical history, interests in activities and programs, and answer any questions about the Y. Consultations will take place in a confidential setting at the Y, and will take about 30 minutes.
Fitness Orientation and Support – The orientation and support program is for members that may or may not have previous experience in a fitness facility. A Wellness Center staff member will sit down with members to determine their wellness goals. Our staff will help by giving an orientation to our equipment and helping determine a routine to begin a wellness journey. The staff that provides the orientation will also follow up with the members throughout their first few months and help ensure that they are staying motivated and active.
12-Week Lifestyle Modification Program – The 12-week lifestyle modification change program offers weekly contact and follow ups from a Wellness Coach. Participants of this program will participate in a Healthy Living Consultation, a Fitness Orientation, and extended support. This program offers 4-6 meetings over the course of a 12 week period that would include an orientation on the equipment, review of short and long term goals, meeting a buddy to work out with, and more.
